TEACH ENGLISH
Locations: Trujillo, Peru | Huaraz, Peru | Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
If you enjoy teaching and working with children, this project is for you! This project allows children to learn a second language at no-cost. Volunteers will lead hands-on interactive lessons and activities aimed to help the children learn English.
Volunteers teach basic English to children ages 5 to 11 years old in local underserved communities. Although these communities have access to light, sewer, and water, many of these homes are unable to afford it. Children have access to public schools but face obstacles and trauma from poverty, abandonment, and violence, which at times forces them to withdrawal from education.
The Teach English project is implemented during their school year or as a summer workshop, depending on the session. The classes aim not only to provide knowledge on the foundations of English but also to create a space where children can flourish, strengthen leadership, and feel empowered. We work closely with the children to create a fun, interactive, and safe environment. Volunteers are provided with a lesson plan but are encouraged to add or modify activities according to their teaching style.
